Privacy Policy

The short version: My Penguin holds the memories two people share with each other, and nothing else. We don't sell them, we don't use them to train AI models, we don't show them to anyone but the two of you — and you can delete everything, completely, whenever you want.
What we collect
My Penguin is built for exactly two people, and it collects only what those two people put into it:
- Your account. On iPhone you sign in with Sign in with Apple, and we receive only the identifier Apple provides plus the display name you choose — we never see your Apple ID password. On Android you sign in with an email address, and we store that address and your display name. The two of you don't have to sign in the same way; the invite code is what links you.
- Your shared content. The pebbles (small memories) you leave for each other, your one-tap pocket affections, the photos and captions in Our Nest, your open-when letters, your anniversary date, and the letters your penguin writes for you. All of it belongs to your shared nest and is visible only to the two people in it.
- Device tokens for notifications. So your penguin can tell you "your penguin brought you something." Nothing else rides along with a notification.
That's the whole list. There are no ad trackers, no analytics profiles built on your content, and no third-party advertising SDKs in the app.
How your penguin writes its letters
Your penguin's letters are written by an AI — only if you both say yes. We want to be completely plain about how that works:
- Nothing is shared without your permission. When you first sign in, the app asks each of you whether the penguin may write your letters. Letters are only generated when both partners have agreed, and either of you can change your answer any time in Settings → The penguin & your privacy. If either of you says no, no content is sent to the AI service at all.
- What is sent: on a schedule (weekly, monthly, and on your anniversary), your first names / display names, your recent pebbles, pocket affection counts, photo captions, and open-when letter activity (including their text) are sent securely to Anthropic's Claude API — the AI service that writes in your penguin's voice. Photos themselves are never sent — only their captions. No account identifiers, device data, or payment data are ever sent.
- This means the AI does read the content you share in the app, including open-when letters, so it can reflect your real moments back to you. If that isn't right for you, just say "not now" — the rest of the app works exactly the same.
- Your content is used only to generate your letters. It is not sold, not used to train AI models, and not shared with anyone beyond that processing. Anthropic processes it under our agreement with them, which provides protections equivalent to this policy.
- The finished letter is stored in your nest, where only the two of you can read it.
What we never do
- We never sell your content or your personal information. To anyone. Ever.
- We never use your memories to train AI models, and neither does our AI provider under our agreement with them.
- We never show your content to other users, advertisers, or data brokers — there is no public anything in My Penguin.
- We never hold your memories hostage. If your subscription lapses, your nest becomes read-only and everything stays viewable, always.
Subscriptions and payments
Subscriptions are handled entirely by the store you bought from — Apple through the App Store, or Google through Google Play. We never see or store your payment details; the store simply tells us whether a nest's subscription is active. You can manage or cancel it anytime in your Apple account settings or your Google Play subscriptions page.
A subscription belongs to the nest, not to a person or a platform, so whichever of you pays unlocks the app for both of you — even if one of you is on an iPhone and the other on Android. The full terms are on our terms of use page.
Deleting your data
Either partner can permanently delete your shared nest from inside the app (Settings → delete our nest). Deletion is confirmed by both of you, and after a short grace period every pebble, photo, letter, and account record in the nest is fully and permanently removed from our systems — including from backups on their normal cycle.
You can also simply ask: email support@resonantlab.ai and we'll delete your data for you and confirm when it's done.
Where your data lives
Your content is stored with our infrastructure providers using encryption in transit and at rest, and access is restricted so that only the two members of a nest can read its content. We keep the list of services that touch your data as short as possible: our database/storage provider, Apple (sign-in, notifications, and payments on iPhone), Google (notifications and payments on Android), and Anthropic (letter writing, as described above).
Children
My Penguin is for adults in a relationship and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how your data is handled, we'll update this page, change the effective date above, and — for anything meaningful — tell you in the app before it takes effect. No quiet edits.
